We’re big fans of Micro Scooters in our house, so when I saw that a Micro Trike was also a thing, I really wanted one for Greg! On the website, it says Micro Trikes are from 18 months+ and could support up to 20kg. There was a section that answered questions, but didn’t really give any extra information than the specifications. This is what I really wanted the answer to: is Micro Trike suitable for a three year old?
Is a Micro Trike Suitable for a Three Year Old?
Those of you who have followed the blog for a while will know my kids have always been big for their ages. Usually if something has a age suggestion on it, my kids will outgrow it very early. The only way I could be sure whether or not my three year old would fit on it, was to give it a try.

Micro Trike: Put to the Test
I wanted a Micro Trike to replace the buggy Greg has refused to sit in for the past year. For whatever reason, he gets fed up in buggies and really doesn’t like using them, so travelling anywhere on foot has been a real pain. Walks to the shop tend to involve dawdling and an unhealthy interest in insects and weird stains on the pavement. His legs get tired easily and I’m not strong enough to carry him far (he’s quite the lump).
I was hoping the Micro Trike would give me the chance to roam freely once again, but let Greg feel like he was in control.
The Micro Trike works as a fold-out trike with a long handle for the parent to push the child on. It has a seat and handle bars, and a small foot-rest above the front wheel for your child to put their feet on while you wheel them around.
It also folds flat when it’s not in use, which is pretty awesome. I mean, it’s really, really flat!
You might be able to tell the Micro Trike itself really impressed us, but we really wanted to know if it was suitable for Greg.
My Three Year Old and the Micro Trike
I’m pleased to say that he fit on it perfectly. He’s not too big and I can’t see him growing too big for it any time soon.
We’ve been giving it some good testing, and as far as we can tell, he doesn’t get bored sitting on it (probably because he thinks he’s driving).
I’m really relieved to have a buggy replacement in time for the summer holidays because it means we can walk to the shops or the park and I don’t have to worry about being stuck carrying Greg.
I’m a big fan of the Micro Trike too because it’s very lightweight and barely takes up any room. It fits easily in my boot or the cupboard under my stairs. Also, because it’s so lightweight, I wouldn’t be uncomfortable carrying it to and from nursery if we went on foot.
