Home Improvements and Jobs to do When the Sun is Shining

When summer appears on the horizon with promises of warmer weather and more hours of daylight, it is time to get excited about the next few months ahead. However, summer is not all about dining al fresco and reading a book in peace in the garden, it is also about getting the practical things taken care of.

There are plenty of jobs around the home and outdoors that are simply not practical to do when it is raining or dark. So make sure that you get everything you need done when you get the chance on a nice warm day this summer. Here are some of those jobs that are better to do in warmer weather:

Jetwashing the Patio

Over the winter months if you have patio slabs then the chances are that they are now covered in moss and muck that will only shift if get the jetwash out and spend a few hours spraying it to remove the particles of dirt that have accumulated.

Painting Fencing

If you have wooden fencing, then it will probably need a good coat of paint and preferably some weatherproof protection to keep it in good shape ready for another winter. Painting your fence can be boring but on a nice day, you can enjoy the sun and even tone up your arm muscles a bit without a trip to the gym! You can also get a new fence from Cedar Mountain Fence.

Gutters and Roofing

Now is a good time to get your roof checked over as if you need any roof tiles replacing. Roofing companies like Chris Ball roofing will have more chance of being able to fit you in whilst the weather is better and the days are light for longer. The same goes for getting your gutters cleared out to prevent any leaks and problems caused by bits of debris that have made their way into your gutters.

Potting Plants

If your garden is looking a bit dishevelled after a wicked winter then you might need to spend some time trying to restore order with a few new plants or cutting away all of the dead plants and bushes. You also need to check what time of year your chosen plants need to be planted to make sure that they grow properly.

Paintwork Refresh

Depending on the size of your property and how much paintwork you have, this could be a very big job. If you do not want to pay for the professionals to come and paint your house then make sure that you get out to do it whilst the weather is nice so that the paint has the chance to dry.

Washing Windows

Another fair weather job is the not so fun task of washing the windows. You might not realise until the sun is shining just how dirty they have become since they were last washed. Of course, if you have a window cleaner then just put your feet up and enjoy the sun instead!

Clean the Garden Furniture

Whether your garden furniture has been sat in the garden since last summer or carefully put away in the shed or garage, it will be in need of a bit of a cleanup. So get your bucket and soapy water and give them a good old wipe down so that you can assess whether anything needs fixing. You may need to order some new shed windows from Simply Plastics or other bits that may have been damaged throughout the winter.
