Even though we got married in November, we still haven’t been on our honeymoon yet.
My husband had work commitments, then changed jobs, and I’m the idiot who booked our wedding in the middle of my final year at uni! Thankfully, all of my assessments are out of the way as of yesterday, and the husband seems pretty settled in his new job, meaning it’s time to start looking at honeymoon destinations. Yay!
If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll be aware of the two kids we own who will have to come with us on this holiday, so the destination needs to be family-friendly. My friend, The Incidental Parent, is always saying how lovely Cyprus is, and how it’s brilliant value for money, so that was my first thought when weighing up our options.
My daughter is nine, so realistically we need to be looking at travelling in the school holidays. Since half term is next week, I think we’ve missed that boat, but there’s always the summer or even October half-term if necessary!
To save on costs we’ve been looking at all inclusive holidays. I like the idea of not having to worry about doing anything myself when we get there! Realistically, I think we’ll have to see which dates are available for my husband to take leave and check how they compare to school term dates too.
I’m excited at the prospect of getting away, we’ll just have to think about where in Cyprus we’d like to go, we’ve heard there are some real hidden gems.
My daughter is a bit of a history fan, and we were recommended a place called Ditzimin Museum. Apparently it’s a little bit quirky and all kinds of cool. I’d be interested to see what the ‘traditional costumes’ they have on display look like, I love seeing all kinds of different clothing and costumes.
Rumour has it there’s also some really beautiful painted churches in the Troodos Mountains. I’d love to see the Byzantine art up close (I’m not so sure this would be the right kind of holiday for my 3 year old) but this might have to be something I visit when it’s just me and the husband.
Either way, I’ve got some planning to do. I’d better renew my passport!
