As you all know, this is our first home with a good sized garden. We are still working on getting it right. Hopefully, when the warmer weather arrives we will be able to get out there and enjoy it straight away. The other day I was looking at garden lighting and came across LED Hut and was absolutely stunned by the range that was available. As you will see, these days, you can use lighting in your garden in a lot of different ways. You can even combine lighting with art in the form of a Neon Sign, which could be a great addition to a shed or outdoor bar. When it comes simple lighting options, however, here are some of my favourite ideas.
Fairy lights anyone?

Fairy lights are definitely not just for Christmas, they have gone mainstream. Now you can buy fairy lights that are actually designed for garden use. These beautiful lights can be used in many different ways. You just need to be sure not to overdo it. When it comes to fairy lights, less is definitely more. Decking one or two trees with them looks classy, but, using them on all of the large plants in your garden would be overwhelming.
Spike lights
Spike lights are extremely versatile. In most cases, it is best to go with the solar or battery powered ones. That way you will not be constantly tripping over the cable that runs between them. Most people use this type of lighting along the edge of paths, but you can just as easily place them along the edge of your flowerbeds to up-light some of the smaller plants in your garden,
Strip lighting
Strip lighting is absolutely fantastic. You really can do amazing things with it, both inside and outside the home. In the garden, many people install strip lights along the edge of any steps that they have. This not only looks good it also improves safety.
If you have a hot tub, pool or pond running it along the edge looks especially good. You just need to buy the waterproof kind for this job.

Decking and ground lights
Deck lighting is a great way to bathe the floor in soft light. Sitting on a deck or patio that has been lit in this way is extremely restful. However, if you want to install this kind of lighting be sure to buy the right type and get a professional to install it for you.
Security lighting
Unfortunately, in many places, burglaries are a big issue. Therefore, it really is worth considering investing in some security lighting. Most thieves like to operate in the dark when entering or leaving a property. So, security lights set high on the wall that come on when someone moves below them can be a good deterrent. Try to have them fitted on a separate circuit, so they can be turned off while you are in the garden. But, remember to turn them on again before you go out or go to bed.
It may also be worth installing this kind of lighting along your perimeter fence. This is a particularly good idea if it backs onto a publically accessible path. This article explains what you need to consider when choosing security lighting for your garden.

Oh, I do love fairy lights – make everythong magical.
Me too, I’d fill my house with them if I had the time and money!
