Do you find it difficult to catch your breath sometimes? Perhaps you have asthma, or you know somebody who has it. The following things can affect a person’s breathing more than you know!

Stress
Stress is a huge factor in how well a person is breathing. When people are stressed, they usually take shorter, more laboured breaths. It’s best to take deep, slow breaths to signal to the body that we are relaxed. Remembering to do this throughout the day can have benefits on your health.
Second Hand Smoke
Smoking is extremely dangerous, but second hand smoke can be equally as devastating. Many people think that it doesn’t make all that much difference, but studies have shown that this is a terrible thing to do around children and adults alike. If you must smoke, keep it away from others. Many people who smoke need breathing apparatus as they age. Don’t let it be you!
Your Weight
The heavier you are, the more difficult it can be to breathe. If you’re an unhealthy weight, getting regular exercise and eating a balanced diet should help you to get to a healthy BMI and improve your breathing.
The Food You Eat
Food rich in vitamins can actually increase your lung capacity, so it helps you to breath easier and develop a healthier cardiovascular system. Many people who have asthma are recommended a healthy diet, as a natural way of improving the condition. The infographic below can show you how treatments have evolved – many of them are natural, so you could still try them to see if they help you to breathe a little easier!
