How to Create the Perfect Garden Room Office in 2026

Once your garden office is installed, the next job is to decorate it. It’s easy to just shove a desk in there and not pay attention to style once the practicalities are sorted. It’s easy for a garden room office to look sparse and basic, but the thing is, it doesn’t need to at all!

The reason garden offices are popular is not necessarily the extra space they create. For lots of people, it’s the peace that’s priceless. So it makes sense to create your own little haven.

Here are my tips for setting up a beautiful home office that you look forward to spending most of your working week in.

Style Ideas for Creating the Perfect Garden Office in 2026

Once you’ve got your workstation set up and functioning, it’s time to add some creative flair to your interior style. You want your garden room to reflect your style and be a pleasant place  to work. After all, people spend a big chunk of their life working – it might as well be in beautiful surroundings. A great way to start is by selecting one defining piece, such as a vintage bookshelf or display humidor from Refined Traditions, to anchor the space with intention.

Accessorise Your Garden Room Office with Beautiful Storage

Although the work you do might not need much storage, items that are traditionally used as storage can fill a space and make the room look more finished. A decorative bookshelf can be a fantastic addition to a garden room office.

If you don’t need to use it for storage, you can put together a stylish backdrop to add an air of professionalism in video calls. Put photos or framed prints on your shelves, display trinkets and accessories. Or you might want to use it as an excuse to splurge at a book shop.

Aside from book shelves, look at sideboards or dressers that add personality to the room. You can store seasonal things like Christmas decorations in them if you don’t need the extra storage space for your work

Every Home Office Needs a Mirror

It might seem like mirrors are best for decorating bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms, but an office needs one too! Mirrors tend to make rooms look a little bigger, and can reflect light depending on where they’re positioned. So a mirror can help make your office feel light and airy.

Mirrors are also great for decoration. Antique style or usually shaped mirrors are currently on-trend. Personally, I’m loving old bar room mirrors with retro drink ads on them. These are easy enough to pick up in charity shops and on Ebay.

Aside from their aesthetics, mirrors are handy on a practical level. You should probably check your face for hopping on a video call. You don’t want to be mid-call when you realise half your dinner is on your face.

Add Plants to Finish the Look

Plants often make interior styling look finished. Big organisations love to display fresh flowers at reception. If your garden room office is big enough to have clients over, flowers might add to the professional look.

If you’re unlucky with plants, something hard to kill might be preferred. Cacti and succulents don’t need a lot of care, they only need watering occasionally. This means if you forget about them for a little while, they’ll still thrive.

Or, if you’re really terrible with living plants, maybe look at some high quality fake plants to improve the look of your office but without adding any tasks to your day.
