It’s a strange thing when a parent sees their child realize something is educational. Their attitude changes quickly. Fun turns to skepticism. What was a game now feels like homework.

Move a character. Trigger an action. Solve a level.
Along the way, they begin to comprehend logic, sequencing, and problem-solving. But it is not like a lesson. Instead, it is like discovering something.

Looking at the apps that kids revisit on their own, they all have several similarities:

The apps that feel like homework do the opposite. They have too many instructions, the guidelines are too strict, and they lack the space to explore.
The point is that the more an app attempts to guide the learning process, the worse it can be.

It is easy to know whether an educational app is effective: Do children return to it independently? Not because you told them to, but because they wanted to.
