I don’t know why dads are so hard to buy for at Christmas, but they really are. They don’t really ever know what they want, and when you ask them, they’ll always say they’ll be happy with anything (which we all know isn’t true).
So, if you’re like me and want to get those father-figures in your life something special and meaningful for Christmas, then you might want to read my list of ideas!
Here’s what I suggest you get a dad for Christmas:
His Tipple of Choice
For whatever reason, these gift guides always suggest whisky or some whisky accessories, but not all dads like whisky. My husband actually loves whisky, so these sections are helpful to me, but my own dad didn’t care for it. So find out his favourite drink and get him some.
If it comes in a gift set or with a fancy glass, then that’s great – if it doesn’t turn it into a gift. If he wants 4 cans of a specific IPA, then buy him them and tie them together with a bow on top. Basically, just find out what he likes and dress it up as a fancy gift – even if he tastes aren’t so fancy.
New Clothes
Dads almost never treat themselves to new clothes, they go off “need” over want and will wear their current clobber into rags. Buy them something they’ll enjoy wearing. Whether you’re an Amazon whizz, or are shopping at retailers with an older target demographic like Chums, here’s what I suggest you get a dad for Christmas: look into a warm jumper, or casual trousers for men, or even some comfy pjs or new trainers.
A Gift Voucher for a Meal
A gift voucher for your favourite place to eat is always welcomed, right? So get one for your dad! Dads always foot the bill for meals out, so get in their first and buy him a voucher so next time he eats out, he won’t have to get his wallet out.
A New Phone Case
A phone case is a great gift because there are so many ways you can go with it. A personalised phone case makes for a lovely sentimental present, or a practical case can go down well for fans of gadgets.
A Robot Vacuum
If you’ve got a big budget and your dad loves tech, get him a robot vacuum. No one enjoys vacuuming – it’s a relentless task that has to be repeated the moment you’ve finished. A robot vacuum that works on a timer and charges itself is such a god gift for anyone in your life. I’d actually quite like one. It’s my dream gift, actually.
