I love food, but I find planning and preparing healthy, nutritious meals to be a bit of drag. It’s not that I don’t like cooking – quite the opposite, but I just can’t be bothered to arrange something spectacular for every meal every day.
I’ve been searching for something that’s convenient, healthy, and tasty in equal measure – and I think Lions Prep meals ticks all those boxes.
Lions Prep make promises chef-cooked, healthy meal plans delivered to your door, so I was really excited to give Lions Prep a try.

Frive Review (Formerly Lions Prep)
Lions Prep (now Frive) arrived well packaged in a box containing ice packs to keep things fresh. I wasn’t home when my food was delivered, but it was left in a safe space, and the ice packs helped to maintain a chilled temperature so I didn’t have to worry. That’s a huge positive, because I’m in and out all day, so can’t be waiting around for a delivery.
Here’s what it looked like in the box:

All of the meals are labelled so you know what you’re choosing, have full nutritional details including calories, cooking instructions and other important info such as ‘use by’ dates etc.
I received this box of meals in exchange for a review but I promise you all works are my own.
What are the Lions Prep Meals Actually Like?

The Lions Prep meals are delicious. I’m a big eater and worried the portion sizes might be small, but they were always satisfying. I think they make sure you get an appropriate amount of protein, which is meant to help you feel full.
I had a greek style burger, and in the same box I had the vegan equivalent. Both were delicious and I suggest that if you’re thinking of dabbling in a plant-based diet, then Lions Prep will have a tasty meal for you. I’ve been flirting with fully plant based days for a while now, and if you’ve experimented too, you’ll realised not all vegan food is created equal. I just wanted to assure you that this burger was very lovely and I would buy it again.

The burgers (both vegan and beef variety) were served with little roast spuds, rainbow slaw and tzatziki. My opinion is that these are the perfect side dishes and I couldn’t get enough of the rainbow slaw. I’ve tried to recreate it at home but to no avail.
I’ve taken photos of the meals plated up, but if you’re not feeling like washing up (who does?) then the containers are fine to eat from. I had a meal on-the-go in the container it arrived in and it was very convenient.

The meal isn’t quite as Instagrammable as on a plate, but with the bright colours of fresh, healthy produce, it’s not far off!
One of the great things about having meals prepped for you is that you don’t have to worry about whether you’ve prepared or stored your food in a healthy way. This food is safely prepared by a chef and has a clear ‘use by’ date on the packaging, so you won’t accidentally eat something that’s past its best.
Choosing Your Lions Prep Meals
I liked my meals so much, I’m just about to order another box. You can choose a 3 day box, 5 day box or 6 day box and say whether you want 2 or more meals each day. Within that selection you can choose whether you have meat, fish, or neither, as well as whether you want breakfast or snacks added on.
It takes you to a page where food has been selected for you, but you can go in and change the selection if you don’t like the sound of a meal.

My Lions Prep box contained some breakfast options. This breakfast in the picture above was a pot containing beans, an egg with a soft centre, bacon and mushrooms. It’s a great little pot if you’re on-the-go. I had mine with toast as a sort of brunch, but for a breakfast, there’s more than enough food without adding any extras. I’m just greedy!
Frive (Formerly Lions Prep) FAQs
Ordering a meal prep service can leave you with a lot of questions. I know I like to do a bit of research before I pull the trigger and order anything, especially food.

Below are some answers to some of the more common questions:
Can You Lose Weight on Lions Prep?
All the meals are fresh and have a calorie content noted on the packet. You can definitely use this info to help you lose weight. The calorie content of the meals isn’t massively high, so if you’re calorie counting, it’s very easy to do with Lion’s Prep. I wasn’t trying to lose weight, but I did think how useful these meals would be to someone who was.
How Long Do Lions Prep Meals Last
The meals are full of fresh veg so they don’t last long. They have a ‘use by’ date on each package, which was about 3 days for me. I think it may differ slightly, but not by much.
Is it Cheaper to Order a Meal Prep Service?
If you like variety, I think it’s cheaper to order Lion’s Prep meals in, rather than make the food yourself. I’ve dabbled in meal prepping before, and if you’re doing on a budget, you can definitely keep costs down. But it also meals you and your partner tend to eat the same meal for lunch and tea every day for about 3 days – which gets old quickly.
Lions Prep allows you to have all the benefits of meal prepping, but with the bonus of having a different dish for every meal. These meals work out about £4 per meal, depending on which deal you go for. For your first order you can get 40% off, then for your following 2 boxes you get 20% off, so if you want to try it, it’s a bit cheaper for a taster.
Is Lions Prep Actually Healthy?
Lions Prep use fresh, healthy and wholesome ingredients for each meal. They include all nutritional information on the box each meal comes in so you can see for yourself. All the meals I had seemed very healthy from what I could tell, they don’t seem to add a load of nasty extras that some supermarket ready meals can contain.
Lions Prep meals are a bit like making something fresh and healthy yourself at home – except it’s none of the effort or hard work.
