Barbie has been a toy box staple for decades. My favourite things to play with were my Barbie dolls and both my daughters were the same.
Barbie is a timeless classic toy that’s just as relevant today as she was when she was at the top of my Christmas list in the 90s.
In fact, my eldest daughter – now 14 occasionally stops to join my three-year-old in a game of Barbies when she’s passing through. I still spot the joyful sparkle in her eye when she kindly joins in with her littlest sibling.
The truth is, Barbie sticks with you. I’ve often indulged in playing with the Barbies with both of my daughters. The minute you pick one up, you’re magically transported back to how you used to play when you were young.
Playing with Barbies inspires so much imagination, and with more types of Barbie (and her gang) than ever, there’s even more to imagine.

Our Totally Hair Deluxe Barbie has curly brown hair and neon streaks. She comes with a range of hair accessories and her hair can be styled in lots of different ways.
Orlaith loves pretending to be a hairdresser by using the hair accessories. There’s even a makeup sponge in the box too, which she likes to use to pretend to put make up on the styling head.
Fashionista Doll
Even though she’s only little, Orlaith is very keen on fashion and style. She loves to watch me get ready to go out, and then she copies. She’s also keen on choosing her own clothes (like the Barbie dress in the picture) as well as dressing Barbies and swapping their clothes too. It’s funny what they see you doing then act out when they play.
She’s a big fan of small world play so the Barbie Fashionista range has been perfect for entertaining her since these dolls come with accessories.
Barbie Totally Hair Doll
The Totally Hair Barbie Doll is another of Orlaith’s favourites because she’s doll that you can change the clothes of but she also has lots of long, beautiful hair. She also comes with hair accessories and comb so your little one can have hours of fun.
Barbie Extra
We’re obsessed with the Barbie Extra range too. This one in the paisley print outfit has bendable knees and comes with a cute dog in sunglasses. The Barbie Extra range boasts bold and outlandish fashions, funk accessories and cute animal pal. Perfect for creative and imaginative play.
Rise & Relax Meditation Barbie
Who doesn’t love a doll that helps to teach their kids mindfulness? The Rise and Relax Meditation Barbie is perfect for getting your child to wind down ready for bed, but she’s also got some morning affirmations too.
At bed time Orlaith loves to get into her Barbie pyjamas and we put the Rise & Relax Barbie into night mode and start with a relaxation routine.
