The Easter school holidays can be a bit of a tough one when it comes to entertaining kids. The weather is usually quite unpredictable (even if it is a bit warmer) and the children are often hopped up on the sugar from chocolate eggs at some point.
That’s why it’s a great idea to plan some activities that’ll keep them entertained whilst keeping you sane.
Keeping kids busy doesn’t have to cost a bomb. I like to mix in a few free activities with a handful of paid outings to make my money go further. Using tastecard has been a real revelation because you can get money off all sorts of things, not just eating out.
I’ll be using my tastecard to keep the kids happy this Easter and below are some of things I plan to fit in.
Meals Out With the Kids
I love taking the kids out to eat. It’s a real win-win situation. Everyone gets a treat and I don’t have to cook or wash up, which is the biggest treat of all.
There are lots of offers at loads of places when you use your tastecard. You can go on the website and put in your local town or city and all the deals will pop up. So if you’re looking for 2 for 1 meals Nottingham, it really couldn’t be more simple.
When I take the kids out to eat, I’ll either make it the main event and we’ll have a look around another town then have a big lunch and come home, or I’ll take the bigger children for a meal and an activity in the evening.
Cinema Trips
Before getting my hands on a tastecard, I had no idea that it wasn’t just limited to eateries. AS I’ve mentioned, there are all sorts of options and a discount for going to the cinema is one of them.
Taking the kids to the cinema is a wonderful way to keep them entertained. We don’t go often so when we do, it’s a really big deal.
The film tends to take up a good chunk of the afternoon, and seeing a film on the big screen is always good fun.
A Trip to the Aquarium
Among the other great offers is discounted aquarium visits. This is one of my favourites because it’s fab for all ages. My eldest child is 14 and my youngest is 2, so it can be a little difficult to entertain them both on the same outing.
Thankfully, the aquarium is impressive to everyone at every age. I’ve never met anyone who isn’t amazed by seeing the sea life up close.
A Theme Park Visit
That’s right, you can even visit a theme park at a discounted rate if you have a tastecard!

A theme park visit during the Easter holidays is ideal. The weather is pleasant enough to be able to stand being outside for a while, but not scorchingly hot like it would be in the summer.
Sometimes you can get lucky with when the school holiday falls. I know a lot of schools in the north tend to have different term dates to their southern counterparts, meaning you can hit a quiet day without even trying!
