Winter is my favourite time of year. The world look completely different when it’s dusted with frost and snow. The light loses its warmth, the sky changes colour and the remnants of fallen leaves are still scattered on the ground. All in all, it’s wonderful season and I can’t get enough of it.
Another great thing about winter is that Christmas and my birthday fall within a week of each other at the end of December. This probably contributes to why I like it so much. That and the fact it’s the perfect mix of glam parties and cosy nights in. There’s almost no in between when it comes to winter. If you’re not at a festive event that’s dripping with glamour, then you’re wrapped up at home, ready for an early night. When it gets dark at 4pm, 9:30 feels like midnight.
The only thing I’ll say about winter when I’m a mum, is that my clothes are a bit tired. This year I’ll be asking for new clothes, and I’ll be treating myself to a few new outfits too. If I don’t I’ll have nothing to wear to any festive gatherings!
I know everyone else spent last Christmas without a party season, but I was pregnant the year before, so it’s been two years for me. I can’t wait to get dressed up and celebrate Christmas with my friends. I am also looking forward to the cosy nights in between. Being a mother of three is pretty tiring!
These are my top pics from Femme Luxe for the festive season. Add them to your Christmas list or treat yourself for the festive period. Either way, you’ll want to take notice.
Bodycon dresses are a Christmas party favourite
Bodycon dresses have always been an elegant option. They cling to all your curves and enhance your shape. I prefer longer bodycon dresses, midi length with a split if possible. I like to pick where I’ll show my skin and if I’ve got my arms and cleavage out, I choose a midi length without a split. If I have sleeves, the length is less important to me, so I’ll happily go for a miniskirt without a split or a midi that shows off a peek of my thigh. Femme Luxe has a huge range of gorgeous bodycon dresses, with sleeves, without, midi, mini, split and even one sleeve if you prefer.
Update your little black dress
Every wardrobe needs at least one little back dress. It needs to be something you can always count on to make you look and feel amazing, and will always bring the wow factor. I believe that ideally you need 2 or 3 little black dresses. I like to have a choice of outfits I know I can rely on, and at the middle I only have one and it’s about seven years old! I’m looking at getting the little satin number in the picture above because I believe you couldn’t fail to look amazing in this.
A white midi dress is the equally matched opposite to the LBD
A bodycon dress is another classic, but if you’re sick of stepping out in your little black dress, it’s time to opt for a white midi dress. It’s equal in every way when it comes to the styles stakes of the little black dress, except it couldn’t be more different to look at. The striking block colour of bright white will help you stand out in a crowd, while the slinky silhouette a midi dress creates will have you looking perfect for the festive season.
Ripped jeans are a great casual look

If you’re bored of the way basic denim looks, opt for some ripped jeans to spice up your outfit. If you’re new to ripped denim, start out small with ripped knees and work up to a few bolder rips over time. These are great for casual drinks, a shopping date or just meeting up for a festive coffee. You can almost certainly dress them up with heels and smarter top though.
Stylish loungewear for cosy nights in

Women’s loungwear sets are really nailing it right now. I didn’t realise is was possible to be stylish and comfy in equal measures. These matching loungewear sets are amazing for looking great when you need to chill. You’ll be happy to relax at home in these but if you nip to the shops, you’ll look great.
