The Dos and Don’ts of a Romantic Holiday

When you find a compatible partner, one of the things to look forward to is a romantic getaway. However, there are so many things that can go wrong, especially if it’s your first time and not well-prepared. So, to save you from headaches, we have created a comprehensive list of things you should do and those that you shouldn’t for a successful romantic holiday.

The Dos

(i) Keep it Short

Given this is your first time on a romantic holiday together, you may want to treat it like a test for longer trips down the line. As such, you’ll want to hold back on booking around the world trip and instead settle for a long weekend break initially.

(ii) Build the Trip Around Your Interests

Try and spend some time planning the getaway together. This includes the destination and the activities you will engage in while there. This way, you will get to understand what your partner wants from a trip prior to the journey.

(iii) Choose a Destination Both of Your are Yet to Visit

By doing this, you will create new memories collectively by discovering the destination together. An important tip to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t go to a location you have been with a previous partner. This is more often than not a bad idea unless it has been years since you broke up. Yorkshire can be a lovely place to go and has some beautiful landscape. You can  find romantic hotels in Harrogate very easily.

(iv) Avoid Stressful Situation

You want your first trip to be calming, relaxing and romantic. So, ensure you get to the airport early, ensure you have the right currency, and plan your route beforehand. Doing things at the last minute is a recipe for disaster.

(v) Make the Flight Romantic

Consider getting into the holiday mood before you even land. You can easily achieve this by sharing a blanket, getting a bottle of wine or champagne, and cuddling during the flight.

(vi) Make Spontaneous Romantic Moves

Try and show your partner that you care by running them a bath after a long day outside or a surprise breakfast in bed. Keep in mind that it is the small things that count.

(vii) Try New Things

Do not be afraid to be adventurous. Go for activities that you would not have a chance to do at home. If you have always wanted to waterski or surf, this is the perfect time to give it a shot. Even if it is simply tasking a local dish for the first time, engaging in new activities that you both haven’t tried before will create an opportunity to bond, bringing you closer than ever.

(viii) Spend Some Time Apart

Even though the trip provides a great opportunity for you two to connect, it’s imperative that you remember to look after yourself. This entails spending some time on something you enjoy independently and encourage your partner to do the same. Hit the pool as your partner enjoys sunbathing, or lie in as they take an early morning walk. The next time you see each other, you will be refreshed and looking forward to spending more time together.

(iX) Pamper Yourselves

Everyone enjoys being pampered on a romantic getaway. You can indulge in a couple’s full-body massage after a long day of walking. Engaging in a romantic and rejuvenating experience is one of the secrets to a successful romantic experience.

(X) Purchase a Special Souvenir

While on the trip, pay close attention to what your partner looks at and likes while out and about. If possible, secretly purchase it and surprise them once you get back to the hotel or home. Whenever they look at it, they will certainly have fond memories of your trip together.

The Don’ts

(i) Don’t Book a Trip to Fix Your Relationship

If your relationship is in a rough stage, a trip together is the last thing you should do. Yes, the trip might be fun, but once you get back home, you will sooner or later get back into the same issues. So, try and solve your relationship problems before you book a trip together.

(ii) Do Not Forget to Pack Medicines

Mosquitoes, sunburns, and typical holiday illnesses can easily ruin a romantic getaway. As such, you’ll want to be well prepared by packing plenty of holiday medicines.

(iii) Do Not Attempt to See Everything

You’ll want to keep things balanced when it comes to the activities. Jumping from one tourist attraction to the next can easily wear you off and get in the way of relaxing and bonding.

(iv) Do Not Spend the Holiday on Your Phone

You do not want to miss valuable moments during your trip by spending most of your time on the phone. Yes, you may need to occasionally check emails and take photos, but don’t allow it to get in the way of what you’re doing with your partner.
