Essential Packing List for Your Staycation

According to recent research, 71% of Brits plan to holiday in the UK this summer, and many are already looking ahead to “staycations” in 2022. However, with the planned scrapping of all lockdown restrictions on 21 June delayed by up to four weeks, the number of people abandoning plans to travel abroad and holidaying at home seems likely to rise even further.

So, what should you pack for an enjoyable, stress-free staycation? Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple or with family, our handy checklist will provide some packing inspiration and help you to remember all the essentials (and a few luxuries).

  • All-Weather Clothing

The weather in the UK can be unpredictable, and sunshine is certainly not guaranteed even in the height of summer. Temperatures can also drop significantly at night. So pack a few items of clothes for cooler, wet weather, no matter what the weather forecast says, including a pair of jeans, a jumper or fleece, a waterproof jacket and some footwear that will keep your feet warm and dry.

  • Entertainment

Whether you’re staying in a hotel, a self-catering cottage or on a campsite, pack a few items to keep yourself and your travel companions entertained during times when you either can’t or don’t want to venture out. Books, board games, tablet computers and music players will all stave off the boredom if a thunderstorm hits or you fancy some quiet chill-out time in your holiday digs.

  • Food

If you’re travelling any distance from home, the last thing you’ll want to do is hit the shops after a long journey. You’ll likely be self-catering for at least some of your meals, whatever type of accommodation you’re staying in. Food shopping before you set off is a lot less stressful than trying to find a supermarket and all your favourite foods in an unfamiliar place, when you’re tired and itching to start your holiday. Buy the basics and treat yourself to a few holiday luxuries — a bottle of bubbles, a luxury cheese selection box, a decadent dessert, whatever feels like a real treat! Keep your shopping cool in a chiller box with ice packs. Alternatively, shop online and have your goods delivered directly to your holiday home!

  • Loungewear

Is it even a staycation if you don’t spend a significant amount of your time lazing about in comfy clothes? Pack a few pairs of pyjamas or some loungewear
