The #ACEit Challenge
It’s no secret that I’m far from domestic goddess status. I clean, I tidy, I do all the housework normal people do, but I’m not someone you’d come to for cleaning tips.
I can tell you how to get spaghetti sauce out of your carpet, but only from the experience of repeated misfortune. Other than that I’m at a loss.
I had reached an acceptance that white clothing greys with age and it never occurred to me there was a solution. I’d resigned myself to a life of greying whites!
That was before I got my hands on a bottle of Ace Ultra for Whites. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to see much difference. I used wash powder for whites and if that can’t stop the clothes greying, I thought probably nothing could.
Here’s how it went:
Washing with Ace Ultra for Whites
I gathered all my plain whites, ready to try it out on wash. In the pile was my daughter’s school blouses, my son’s school polo shirts and some baby vests that had been in storage over 10 years since Emma grew out of them! (I’m all about recycling baby clothes right now). As you can see from the pic above, they had all turned varying shades of light grey!
This washing liquid contains bleach and is designed only to be used on clothes that are completely white. It’s more like a wash supplement than a washing liquid as you use it alongside your normal detergent and it can go in the bit of the washer door designed for fabric softener.
It’s designed for delicate clothes, but is also able to tackle odours, germs and viruses, which is why I was really happy to wash Orlaith’s vests in it (especially since they were originally Emma’s from almost 12 years ago!)
The Results!
My whites came out of the washer looking bright and smelling fresh. It had rained all day so I stuck everything in the dryer and the clothes looked even whiter when dry! I couldn’t believe the difference, they actually looked new! Even the decade-old vests were dazzling!
I’ll definitely be adding ACE Ultra for Whites to my white washes from now on. The kids went off today looking like they had smart, new shirts on. The solution is concentrated so you get plenty in one bottle, making it affordable enough to use every time you wash your whites. Just remember it contains bleach, so only completely white clothes are suitable.
I’m feeling pretty proud I can add ‘keeping whites bright white’ to my cleaning advice repertoire.
