Celebrate Birth

How to Celebrate the Birth of Your Child

Oh, my goodness! Here is this little bundle of human being, arriving in your life in a moment.  You will feel overwhelmed, both physically and emotionally.  There is nothing more unique and nothing more terrifying.  But how can you celebrate? How can you do something symbolic to demonstrate the significance of this event?

Here we offer a guide to some of the ways to celebrate the birth of your child.  We hope these can help to add to the memories that you are storing each day.

Celebrate Birth

A little bit of bling

There is a tradition of gift-giving to the mother of the baby at birth.  It is challenging for the mother to see her partner for life cooing over another human being.  They have also just been through the most physically challenging attack of their body.  Consequently, there is an acknowledgement that the father should bring a small gesture to the mother to mark the achievement of giving birth.

Some jewellery would be a special gesture.  However, you could buy something even more unique.  Baby fingerprint jewellery is literally the most personalised gift you present.  The universe has given us a marker shared by no other human being.  Therefore, having this print etched with a laser onto gold or silver is a beautiful souvenir. You could get your loved one a necklace, ring, charm or more.

A small celebration

The last thing you will want to do when your little human arrives is to throw a party.  However, you also should account for the number of people who will want to come and see the baby too. Therefore, there is an argument for throwing an informal baby shower.  Encourage everybody who really matters to come over at the same time, bring some food (amazing for later when you have no time to cook) and get ready to have their photograph taken.

Getting all the visits out of the way in one go will help you fall into a routine with your child, which could be interrupted by the constant drop-ins.  You can also use this time to create an album of images, where the baby meets all the essential people in their life – which could become a treasured item into the future.

A moment alone

You also need time to get to know your baby. A fantastic way to celebrate the arrival of your child is to make time to sit alone with them for a time.  Whether it is the mother or the father, you sit in a chair and shut the door and say hello to your new family member.  It could be great if you sit in a chair, skin to skin with the baby and nothing but silence hanging in the air.  Not only will this help you feel present in this celebratory moment, but also let you take the time to really look at your young person.

Don’t take it for granted that this time will be readily available.  You need to make a conscious effort to plan this into your day, letting people know that you need this time alone to get to know your baby.

Planting a tree

What better way to demand a better future for your baby than by planting a tree? With the facts of climate change in the news each day, by doing our bit at the time of our child’s birth, we can demonstrate our commitment to creating a stable environment for the future.

A tree is also representative of our family. The roots of the tree hold it stable and allow for yearly regeneration.  It will also grow with your child.  Imagine the swing you could hang from a branch and the initials your child could carve in the bark when they experience their first love.  Then, when you are older, and your child is now an adult, the tree will still stand as a symbol of the powerful emotions you felt at this time.

A professional photograph

You might choose to wait a few months until your baby can sit up and smile. Indeed, a baby shows more of its individuality when it has grown a little.  However, young people grow so quickly, and you can miss vital moments if you wait too long for your official photograph.  Taking a pretty image of a new-born is challenging, as they keep eyes closed, have wrinkly skin and the birth can be a little traumatic.  Therefore, committing to pay a professional will be a wise investment, and you get a beautiful canvas printed for your wall.

Photo Books

One pro photo can be great, and it’s an excellent way to decorate certain parts of your home. However, you’ll probably have a huge amount of pictures and snaps of your newborn. One photo won’t be enough to store them all. Consider putting together photo books to showcase all of your best photos. These photo books can look great up on a shelf or on the table. They’re great for people who visit your new baby, because they can flick through and see how your baby changes over the months too. You could put a small photo book together, or a large one detailing your pregnancy, birth, and baby experience. Then, as time goes on, you’ll always have something to look at. You can also use them as gifts if you wanted to pass on some baby photos to immediate family.
