Ideas for Memorable Family Holidays Without Leaving the UK

AD

Staycations in the UK are becoming more popular than ever. With prices for holidays abroad creeping up, it makes sense to treat your family to a UK getaway.

Not only do you manage to avoid the headache of sorting passports and visas, you can choose a destination that involves very little travelling if you’re so inclined. If you have a very young family then you might prefer to keep things close to home. My children have always objected to anything beyond a short car journey, so our getaways have often been chosen based on travel time!

Memorable Holiday Ideas for the UK

When you take your family on holiday, you want to create memories that last a lifetime. Although the location and type of holiday shouldn’t matter as much as the company, it’s important to pick something everyone will enjoy. When you’ve spent a lot of time and cash planning the perfect family holiday, you want to make sure everyone will love it.

Below are some suggestions for types of family holidays you can take in the UK. Each one will create special memories and stay with the whole family forever!

A Luxury Motorhome Holiday

Choosing a motorhome holiday allows you to go to several destinations with the option to see more of the UK. Don’t worry if you don’t own your own vehicle, you can hire a luxury motorhome to take your family on the holiday of a lifetime.

This type of holiday is often a ‘bucket list holiday’ that people have been mentally planning for a lifetime. The freedom and relaxation go hand in hand, helping to create the holiday of a lifetime. You’re not tied down and you and the family are free to explore anywhere the mood takes you (although it’s usually best to plan when you’ve got kids).

Another plus side is that a motorhome has everything you could possibly need – all under one roof. What’s even more special is that you can take that roof anywhere you like!

A Cottage Holiday

A traditional cottage holiday is great choice for a family who enjoys their freedom but loves returning to a fixed base. While you can park your luggage and spread out, as well as have all the creature comforts of a bath, WiFi and Netflix, you also have lots of choices.

Cottages are usually self-catering, meaning you can save some money by cooking a family meal as normal, giving you more cash to spend days out and activities. We recently had a cottage holiday and were able to treat it as a base as we went out to explore the area. Because we drove to the cottage, we were able to take the car out everyday, expanding our holiday area by several miles.

Family Glamping

Glamping bridges the gap between camping and spending the holiday in a hotel or cottage. It means you can keep your family close to nature, with the added bonus of sleeping in comfy beds. The name means ‘glamorous camping‘, and as the name suggests, a luxury camping holiday is bound to ensue.

It’s a beautiful way to combine the best of camping with the best of indoors. Sit outside your tent or yurt and gaze at the beautiful night sky, before cosying down for the night in a luxurious bed!

Whichever type of holiday you choose, be assured it’ll create beautiful, everlasting memories.
