Stems in the tub
We were sent a tub of Stems 3D Toy Maker to review

We love playing with STEM toys so we were really pleased to get the opportunity to review a tub of Stems – the flexible 3D toy maker.

What are Stems?

Stems are wiggly wobbly flexible shapes that can be fixed together to create different shapes. They are suitable from ages 5+ and can help improve fine motor skills as well as hand-eye co-ordination.

Stems out the box

The fine motor skills aspect is what particularly interested me because my son could do with improving his. When he was nursery age he avoided sitting still for any length of time and nothing on earth could convince him to sit and draw or play with smaller things.

He’s also left-handed, which might have been missed in earlier attempts to teach him to write, so as a result, his pencil control has suffered slightly. We’ve been searching high and low for ways to improve his fine motor skills that will interest him more than writing or threading buttons in string etc. I think we’ve finally found it!

Stems can be fixed together, pulled apart, make recognisable shapes and any (unrecognisable) creation from your imagination!

What can you do with Stems?

Playing with Stems has been known to improve fine motor skills

Stems encourage hands on play and can help explore construction and 3D shapes. Their bright colours mean they’re fun to work with and the wobbly, knobbly pieces make them an engaging STEM toy for kids of all ages (even big ones).

The pieces clip together, either making patterns or a structure from the handy guide. Stems encourage curiousity, exploration and problem solving.

What’s even better is that they can be packed away neatly in the handy tub they arrive in!
