To celebrate the moon landing, Playmobil have recruited captain Gregory to man a mission from the moon to Mars! Greg was the perfect astronaut for the mission and was delighted to get his crew ready.
Ground Control to Major Greg
Every astronaut needs a ship with a crew, and Greg was no exception. He prepped his space ship – the Mars Mission, and was ready to launch!

The lid of the ship closed and they set off on their journey for Mars.

There were a few things that Greg wanted to achieve from this mission into space. To prep him, I asked him these three questions:
If you were an astronaut what would be the first thing you would do in space?
I would go to go to Mars and look for baby aliens to talk to. Baby aliens are cute!
If you could only take one item with you to space, what would it be?
I’d take my tablet to show the aliens how to play my games.
Which planet would you explore and what would you like to discover?
I want to go to Mars and find out what games the aliens play.
The journey to Mars ran smoothly and the spaceship was ready to land.

The crew didn’t know what they’re find on Mars but they had labs on board to run some experiments.

When the spaceship landed, everyone was excited to search for alien life forms. Even the robot crew member was ready for some action.

The hatch opened and the crew came out to explore. Luckily they had their space buggy with them so they were able to cover much more distance. The crew also looked for space rock to collect.

Being an astronaut is a really exciting job and Greg has been loving manning a spaceship with his own crew.

The crew seemed a little disappointed that they didn’t get to meet any aliens, but there was evidence aliens had been living on Mars! A mess had been left out to suggest maybe some little aliens had been having a picnic, and loud noises could be heard in the distance. We think the aliens were hiding from our crew!

When Mars had been thoroughly explored, our crew packed up their belongings and headed back to Earth.
What we thought of the mission from the moon to Mars

Greg absolutely loved every aspect of the astronaut toys, he plays with them for hours at a time and is really good at using his imagination to make stories for the characters.
The kits are brilliant and pay amazing attention to detail. The astronaut food, drink and equipment is so well thought out.

The Mission to Mars station was quite fiddly to assemble, but the end result is so awesome that it was worth every minute.
These kits would make great gifts for any space lovers and both me and Greg are so grateful to have been sent them.

All parts are moveable, everything has been very carefully engineered for fun. Imaginative play is so important for young children and anything that encourages it is a winner in my book.
These are the kits that feature in this blog post (affiliate).
