It’s alright, Christmas is over, you can stop being selfless and spending all of your money on other people. While I was searching the depths of the internet for gifts for other people, I came across a website where I wanted everything! Rather appropriately, it goes by the name of UncommonGoods.
Uncommongoods is one of those businesses with a conscience. I think that’s why I like it so much. It sells handmade items that are created with recycled materials. Already that ticks some boxes for this accidental hipster. Another lovely feature is that it allows you to donate to a non-profit organisation of your choice at the checkout.
Swoon. You had me at ‘recycled’.
As some of my more avid readers might be aware, I moved last month and I’m in the process of tarting up my new abode with some funky accessories. UncommonGoods has made me genuinely question if I can justify buying three doormats for my one front door. Look what I’ve narrowed it down to. It would be inhumane to force me to choose, surely?
You see the dilemma, right?
Also, why don’t I already have a door harp?
If like me, you have people to buy for in January (daughter and fiance) then your gift shopping won’t stop once Christmas is done. Fear not, UncommonGoods has got you covered in the birthday department! I’m already eyeing up this hammock for my fiance. I feel it would be a welcome addition to our garden (for me, mwahahahaha). But seriously, he’d love it. It’s made for two so I could get away with it being for both of us.
I also love that it’s made by members of small village in Thailand, who are using their weaving skills to make a sustainable income for their community.
Sometimes you need to give a more meaningful gift. Personalised presents can be a wonderful touch for a special occasional or anniversary. I think it’s really lovely to have something made especially for you. I think it’s even better when it’s not something you see every day, like these beauties.
Some other special gifts I like the look of are this gorgeous jewellery tree,
and this classy homemade gin set caught my eye too.
There are so many more things I love, but if I post everything, I feel I’ll be stealing some serious thunder, so you really need to check it out for yourself (if you’re quick, you’ll catch the sale too)!
