Enjoying great music at a festival with family and friends is the perfect way to spend the summer, especially when it’s free!

These days, there a number of free festivals up and down the country to enjoy. Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival is just one of many, sporting big names such as Razorlight, as well as providing great entertainment, food and activities all free of charge.

Festivals are a great way to keep both kids and parents entertained, so why not do some research to see if there’s a free festival near you!

Take a Trip to the Cinema

The cinema used to be an expensive activity, however nowadays many cinema chains offer family tickets and early showings at a discounted price, making it more affordable than ever to take a family trip to the cinema.

Odeon and Vue offer screenings of kids films at prices starting at £2.49 a ticket and as the films are shown in the morning, you can beat the rush of cinema customers.

Most carnivals in the UK are free to attend and they’re great places to take the family if you’re looking to branch out and do something different.

The Notting Hill Carnival and the Manchester Caribbean Carnival are some of the most talked about carnivals in the UK and provide thrilling entertainment, delicious food, and vibrant cultural performances to the masses.

These fantastic celebrations of culture can provide entertainment for hours and are the perfect places to spend a day or two in summer!

Indoor Activities

Our fickle British summers mean that there could be non-stop sunshine one day and thunderstorms the next! That’s why it’s always handy to have some indoor activities prepared for those inevitable rainy days.

Baking, arts and crafts and movie nights are just a few of the things you can do with the family to pass the time and this doesn’t have to involve spending a lot of money.

You can do a bit of ‘upcycling’ to see what you can make out of old bits and bobs lying around the house. Alternatively, cake ingredients are usually quite affordable and you get to enjoy whatever treats you make afterwards!
