I was sent some Lighter Life 5:2 Diet Plan fast shakes to review. This was very welcome after I had a rather indulgent Christmas and gained a lot of weight. I’d never completed a 5:2 diet plan before, and although I’ve previously tried meal replacement shakes, I haven’t had the pleasure of using Lighter Life products. I didn’t even know you could purchase Lighter Life products outside of their meetings, but there’s actually a huge and exclusive range available at Superdrug.
What is the Lighter Life 5:2 Diet Plan?
The Lighter Life 5:2 Diet Plan involves two days of fasting per week. On your fast days, you don’t starve, but instead swap your normal food for 4 Lighter Life meal replacements. I used the shakes above for mine. For the other five days in the week, you should eat a healthy, balanced diet for best results.
Popular fast days are Mondays and Thursdays, so that’s what I tried. It didn’t even feel hard!
The meal replacement smoothies give you all your recommended daily vitamins and minerals. This is important to realise because if you restricted your food to the same amount of calories for these two days, you wouldn’t get enough nutrients.
How I got on with the Lighter Life 5:2 Diet Plan Fast Shakes
I loved them! I was worried the flavours might be too sweet but they’re just right. The consistency is nice too, they don’t come out too thin and watery, but they’re not so thick that they’re unpleasant. I really rate them!
Because they tasted so good, I didn’t really feel like I was missing out on the days I used them instead of regular meals. In the past when I’ve tried a complete meal replacement plan, I’ve found around day 3/4 I feel light headed and absolutely starving. These meal replacements are only two days of the week and I chose not to complete them back-to-back.
I am a really busy person. I’ve had uni deadlines and I have two children, which alongside running my blog, can leave me short on time. On my busiest days I am used to grabbing something to eat because it is convenient, unfortunately, convenience food is often calorific. Now that I’ve started this Lighter Life 5:2 diet plan, I will choose to fast on my busier days so I that I can avoid bad choices altogether.
This weekend was my husband’s birthday and we ate out twice. I was hoping the plan would still work and it did!
I never dreamed I would lose 3.5lb!
I can’t even imagine what I might have lost if I’d skipped that curry and that pizza I snook in over the weekend. I’m going to continue doing this diet for the rest of the month, so stay tuned for my results. I’ve been really impressed so far!
I love that I can get the Lighter Life 5:2 Diet Plan meal replacements exclusively from Superdrug without having to sign up to the meetings. I’ll probably buy the 5:2 Lighter Life 2 Week Starter Pack after I’ve used up the meal replacements I’ve got. I can’t believe how well it works!
