When I received my Glossybox last week, I thought the residents of Glossy towers were being a little optimistic about the weather. I’m glad they had faith though, now the sun is shining I’m really grateful to be in possession of everything I need for gorgeous summer skin.
Spa to You: Natural Konjac Sponge
Exfoliating is the first step towards having skin you’re not ashamed to bare in the heat. This sponge works with any foaming products and gently removes dead skin cells and helps boost circulation, giving you a healthy glow. I have been using mine with a honey and oatmeal hand-made soap I bought from a local craft fair.
Ladival Sun Protection
This sun protection spray is a lot more luxurious than what I am used to (usually some sort of heavily scented own-brand concoction) so I feel extra posh when I use it. It comes in a spray bottle, meaning I can get good coverage on my back. The scent is light and pleasant, it’s designed for sensitive skin which is a bonus and despite the the lotion being water resistant, it doesn’t feel greasy on your skin. Even if you want a tan, it’s important to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays, and at SPF 15, this does the job.
Lait Apres-Soleil (After Sun Lotion)
If something has French words and a leafy pattern on it, you know it’s going to be fancy. This after sun has a sweet smell and feels like a normal moisturising lotion to apply, it also gives a cool sensation when rubbed in. After you’ve spent some time in the sun, you should always take care of damaged skin. This cooling after-sun that smells and feels like a regular lotion will definitely cool and soothe any burns.
Emite Make Up: Lip and Cheek Tint
The applicator to this tube makes it look like you can apply the tint like lipgloss but I found that gave me uneven coverage. Instead, use a lip brush to apply. For cheeks I used a blusher brush to apply to the apples of my cheeks and then blended with a sponge. Blending with your fingers has the same effect, but then you have stained fingers all morning as it takes a few hand washes to come off! It’s a gorgeous colour, definitely complements my skin tone and I imagine it would be a pretty universal shade.
Starskin: Eye Catcher Eye Mask
These are funny little pads. I’ve tried Starskin’s face masks before and their texture is surprising but nice. The eye mask is cool and refreshing and made me look wide awake after. Remember to make sure your face is clean before application and be gentle when your dry. The skin round your eyes is super sensitive.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor
This was a nice little extra. I always use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle masks anyway, I find them to be a saviour for taming my masses of hair. If you’ve never used their masks before, I suggest you remedy that immediately! They’re thick and creamy and smell like fruity sweets. Yum!
All in all, I’m very pleased with this month’s glossy box. It’s added a little bit of glamour to a normally boring routine of sun protection and exfoliation. You can sign up for one here if I’ve given you some beauty envy!
