This post is an entry into the #MyCustomSign www.smartsign.com blogger challenge
As a busy mother-of-two and a full-time student, it’s difficult to fit in a bit of ‘me time’. When I do get chance to unwind, my favourite thing to do is crochet.
I tend to spread out my yarn stash when I get stuck in. I take up a fair bit of room while I spread out my colours and try and gain some inspiration. In the past I’ve been short on space, but since we’ve moved I’ve managed to claim a little crochet nook.
My dream is to decorate my corner, just for me and my craft. I have visions of candy tone signs and sorbet bright wall hangings. It may sound a bit sickly sweet for some, but my style is super girly and I want my crochet corner to reflect that.
With that in mind, I took the time to mock up the sort of sign I’d like to decorate my creative space with, do you like it?
I made this sign design as a competition entry, but I like it so much I’d love to have it made up regardless of the competition outcome! Having this sign would go some way towards me marking out my own little space.
I feel like I deserve a bit of relaxation time and enough room to spread out. Seeing the sign to signify my special space will encourage me to factor in a little bit of ‘me time’ every day. It’s easy to forget you deserve a rest when you’re looking after everybody else all the time.
Anyway, back to my design. See what I mean about the sugarplum pastels? In fact, it almost matches my most recent project. I made a pencil case for my daughter in some beautiful baby-soft sparkly yarn.
I’m pretty proud of this and she seems pleased too. Usually I’ll make her something she’s requested, then she’ll never use it once it’s done. I think I’ve finally cracked it this time!
What would your sign look like if you had to design one? Where would you hang it? What would it say? If you’re a blogger, you could enter the competition too (but be quick, it closes on 26th July!).
